The Punjab BJP expelled former MLA Satkar Kaur for six years on Thursday, following her arrest in a drug-related case. Punjab BJP general secretary Anil Sarin stated that the decision was made under the guidance of state party Chief Sunil Jakhar. Kaur and her nephew were detained on Wednesday for allegedly attempting to sell heroin in Kharar, Mohali. Kaur served as the MLA for Ferozepur Rural from 2017 to 2022 but did not receive a ticket from Congress for the last elections, prompting her to join the BJP.
Additionally, the BJP has announced candidates for the upcoming November 13 bypolls, including former finance minister Manpreet Singh Badal for Gidderbaha. The elections will cover four assembly seats in Punjab, with results expected on November 23.
