At the NVIDIA AI Summit 2024 on Thursday, Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, announced a partnership with Reliance to build advanced AI infrastructure in India. This initiative aims to bolster India’s AI capabilities, combining data, technology, and infrastructure to create a robust ecosystem.
Huang emphasized, ‘To lead in AI, you need model technology, data, and infrastructure. India’s large user base is a significant advantage.’ Mukesh Ambani, Managing Director of Reliance Industries, expressed optimism about India’s potential, stating, ‘India will be one of the biggest intelligence markets. The raw talent and youth power in India drive this intelligence.’
Ambani highlighted that Indians will increasingly export AI services, stating, ‘We will not only export CEOs but hundreds of millions will deliver AI services for a better world.’ Huang echoed this vision, stating that India is transitioning from being a software exporter to an AI powerhouse.
Ambani pointed out that India’s youthful population averaging under 35 coupled with strong digital infrastructure, positions the country as a hub for innovation rather than just manufacturing. He noted, ‘Apart from the US and China, India has the best digital connectivity infrastructure.’
He concluded by citing PM Modi’s vision for a new aspirational India, underscoring the role of leadership in fostering a premier digital society. The partnership with NVIDIA is seen as a pivotal step in driving India’s AI and intelligence revolution forward.
