There is no rebellion against BJP in Shiggaon assembly constituency, said former CM and MP Basavaraj Bommai. Responding to a question about if there was a rebellion against BJP in Shiggaon, Bommai told media that such developments are common during elections. Regardless of who the Congress candidate is, BJP will approach the election with a highly competitive spirit and conduct it in a cordial manner, he added.
The MP said that on the day BJP candidate Bharat Bommai files his nomination, senior party functionaries, including former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, will be present. When asked about former Minister CP Yogeshwar joining Congress, he said BJP functionaries tried to retain him in the party. His decision to join Congress is unfortunate. Congress did not have a candidate in that constituency, making it easier for the NDA candidate to win.
Even now, Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy holds influence there. Previously, when there was a triangular contest between BJP, JD(S) and Congress, Kumaraswamy won there. I am confident that JD(S) candidate will win the bypoll as well, he added.
