Chandigarh
In a Diwali gesture, the Haryana government has increased the dearness allowance and dearness relief for government employees, pensioners, and family pensioners from 50% to 53%. This adjustment applies to those on the revised pay structure set by the 7th Pay Commission and will take effect from July 1, according to an official announcement.
CM Nayab Singh Saini has approved this proposal, and the updated dearness allowance will be reflected in the October 2024 pay and pension payments. Employees will also receive arrears for July, August, and September in December. The revision is expected to add an additional financial burden of ₹498 crore to the state.
Additionally, IAS, IPS, and IFS officers will also receive the new dearness allowance rate of 53% starting July 1. The government plans to disburse October salaries and pensions on October 30, taking into account public holidays for Diwali and Haryana Day.
The Chief Minister has instructed all administrative heads and pension disbursing agencies to ensure smooth implementation of this increase. Saini has retained several key portfolios, including Home, Finance, and Urban Planning. He will review development projects with Municipal Corporation Commissioners in Chandigarh on October 24 at 9 am.
