Police arrested eight individuals, including the owner and operator of a hotel in Meerut, for running an illegal casino inside the premises. The arrests occurred after police received a tip-off on Monday night and conducted a raid in the Nauchandi area. Superintendent of Police (City) Ayush Vikram Singh confirmed that the hotel was charging a substantial entry fee for access to the casino.
To investigate the situation, a team was formed, including three circle officers, one of whom is female. Singh stated, upon raiding the location, we found the information to be accurate. Eight people, including the hotel owner and operator, were arrested. He added that charges for operating an illegal casino and other offenses will be filed, and the police have seized the hotel’s CCTV footage as part of their investigation.
