In a landmark achievement for Indian equestrian sports, Barath Manoharan secured victory in India’s first-ever FEI concours saut international 2 (CSI 2) two-phase competition. Held at Surge Stable in Bengaluru, Barath rode Qina to complete the 135 cm course in 36.03 seconds, claiming the win on Day 3. In a closely contested final, he edged out Kirat Nagra, who finished second on Little Joe with a time of 37.29 seconds. Kirat, who also placed on the podium on Day 1, displayed consistent skill throughout. M Krishna Sahithi, riding Asca IX Z, came third with a time of 39.74 seconds.
Barath earned a prize of Rs3,50,000, while Kirat and Sahithi received Rs2,70,000 and Rs2,02,500, respectively. The Grand Prix event scheduled for later in the day was canceled due to bad weather, according to the Equestrian Federation of India (EFI).
Jaiveer Singh, EFI General Secretary, expressed pride in successfully hosting India’s first FEI CSI 2 event, highlighting its importance in showcasing young talent and promoting the sport.
In the FEI CSI Junior event, Jaiveer Verma won with a flawless performance, overtaking Jai Singh Sabharwal, who had led on Days 1 and 2. The competition concluded with Aradhana Anand winning the children’s category for the second day, securing first place on Democratic.
This historic event, held from October 18-20, featured over 50 riders across various categories.
