Aryna Sabalenka has overtaken Iga Swiatek to reclaim the No. 1 position in the latest WTA rankings released on Monday. Despite neither player competing last week, adjustments related to tournament participation led to Sabalenka dropping fewer points than Swiatek, giving her a slim 41-point lead. Sabalenka now has 9,706 points, while Swiatek holds 9,665.
In response to her rise, Sabalenka posted on X, “N1… Let’s see for how long this time.” She previously held the No. 1 spot for eight weeks last year before being surpassed by Swiatek at the season-ending WTA Finals. Sabalenka hopes for a longer stay at the summit this time.
American Coco Gauff ranks third with 5,963 points, followed by Jessica Pegula (5,785 points) and Elena Rybakina (5,471 points).
Recent tournament results contributed to this shift. Sabalenka’s strong performances, including a title at Wuhan and quarterfinal finish at the China Open, helped her accumulate 4,000 points over the last nine weeks. In contrast, Swiatek’s decision to skip part of the Asian swing led to a loss of points.
In other movements, Daria Kasatkina returned to the Top 10 after winning her eighth career title in Ningbo, while French teenager Mirra Andreeva achieved a new career-high ranking of No. 17.
