A significant fire erupted at the Pars Petro refinery in Shushtar County, Khuzestan province, injuring at least six individuals, as reported by sources on Wednesday. Among the injured, two people sustained burns covering over 80% of their bodies following the explosion on Tuesday night.
The fire was triggered by a collision between a tanker and gasoline tanks at the refinery, according to Seyyed Mohsen Seyyed Mousavi, the county’s governor. Emergency Medical Services responded promptly, and firefighters managed to contain the blaze, although they remained on high alert afterward.
Ali Abdollahi, the director general of Khuzestan’s crisis management department, confirmed that there have been no fatalities linked to the incident. He attributed the fire to a failure to adhere to safety protocols during the fueling process.
