Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced on Tuesday that the Social Welfare and Law Department Secretaries have been tasked with clarifying issues related to caste certificates and issuing appropriate circulars. Speaking to the media at Vidhan Souda, he addressed concerns raised during a meeting with Scheduled Tribe communities regarding malpractices within the Valmiki Development Corporation, particularly the issuance of fake caste certificates.
Siddaramaiah assured that the full grant allocated for the Valmiki Development Corporation this year would be disbursed. He disclosed that a total of Rs 89.63 crore was misappropriated from the corporation, with Rs 5 crore already recovered. Of the remaining Rs 84.63 crore, Rs 71.54 crore has been recovered, and the Special Investigation Team (SIT) aims to recover the remaining Rs 13 crore. He emphasized that the government would act according to the upcoming court verdict related to the case.
With by-elections approaching, Siddaramaiah expressed confidence in the Congress party’s preparedness to face the elections effectively.
