In the bustling Mathikere ward of Malleswaram constituency, a broken footpath slab near the M.S. Ramaiah College bus stop has become a pressing safety concern for pedestrians. This damaged slab, situated directly opposite the Reliance store, is frequently traversed by students, office-goers, and local residents, making it a critical point for foot traffic. The ongoing neglect of this footpath has created a significant hazard, particularly during peak hours when large crowds navigate the area.
Pedestrians are often compelled to step onto the busy roadway, significantly increasing the risk of accidents, especially during the evening rush when visibility diminishes. Local residents and daily commuters have voiced their frustration over the inaction from authorities regarding this issue, which has persisted for weeks. A regular bus stop user expressed, ‘This broken footpath slab has been an issue for weeks. It’s not just an inconvenience; it’s a major safety hazard. Elderly people and children are especially at risk of tripping or hurting themselves.’
Despite multiple complaints and requests for repairs, civic authorities have yet to take any concrete action.
