Residents of Mukhra village in Telangana’s Adilabad district have reached out to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, demanding the swift implementation of six key guarantees promised during the Assembly elections last November. They sent postcards to Gandhi and CM Revanth Reddy, expressing frustration over the delays in fulfilling these commitments.
The villagers noted that the Congress party had pledged to deliver on these guarantees within 100 days of taking power, yet more than 300 days have passed without any substantial progress. They highlighted unmet promises, including raising social security pensions from ₹2,000 to ₹4,000 per month, providing a monthly pension of ₹2,500 for women, offering a tola of gold under the Kalyana Lakshmi scheme, distributing scooters to female students, investing ₹15,000 per acre for farmers, and waiving crop loans up to ₹2 lakh.
The villagers warned that if the Congress party continues to ignore its commitments, they would protest in New Delhi. K.T. Rama Rao, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president, shared the villagers’ postcards on social media, criticizing Gandhi for the unfulfilled promises. While the ruling party claims to have implemented some guarantees, opposition leaders argue that the Congress has betrayed the people’s trust by failing to deliver on its election manifesto.
