The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday announced the India A squad for the upcoming ACC Men’s T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2024, set to take place from Oct 18 to 27 in Muscat, Oman. This tournament will showcase emerging teams from across Asia, with India A placed in Group B alongside Oman, Pakistan A, and the UAE.
Mumbai Indians star Tilak Varma, aged 21, will lead the India A team, with Abhishek Sharma as his vicecaptain. Varma brings experience from four One Day Internationals (ODIs) and 16 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), while Sharma has played eight T20Is. The squad also features legspinner Rahul Chahar, who has six T20I and one ODI appearance for India.
India A will start their campaign against Pakistan on October 19 at the Oman Cricket Academy Ground in Muscat. The other teams in Group B are Oman and the UAE, while Group A consists of Afghanistan A, Bangladesh A, Hong Kong, and Sri Lanka A. This edition marks the first time the tournament will be played in T20 format, with previous editions held in the 50over format.
