On Tuesday, the fourth day of the Panch Kavyotsava Dasara poetry festival, a new feature called the Complex Poet Conference was inaugurated. The event took place at the Jaganmohan Palace in the city.

Senior literate HS Shivaprakash expressed happiness about the first multi-lingual poetry conference organized during the festival. He stated that language is merely a medium for poetry and that the essence of poetry remains the same across all languages. He described this multi-lingual gathering as a collection of flowers in a garden.

The need for harmony among languages and spirits was emphasized, with the belief that such events can foster this harmony. He suggested that future poetry festivals could be held globally in Mysore.

During the conference, poets presented their work in various languages. Akshtaraj Perla recited poetry in Tulu, Indiran Rajedran performed in Tamil, Dr. Rishikesh presented in Odiya, and Nagatihalli recited in Kannada. MR Kamala shared a poem titled “My Dictionary” in Kannada, while N Kiran Kumar read “A Letter to a Friend” in Manipuri. Jossey Edwin Pinto recited “Nannoor” in Konkani, and Dr. Deepak Bhatt sang a welcome song in Sanskrit.

Concerns about freedom of expression were raised by JN Tejashri, who highlighted rising issues like violence against women. Prof KY Narayanaswamy and others also participated in the event.
