Mangaluru
The Mangalore Dasara held in the Kudroli Sri Gokarnath constituency is different from others. This festival was started 34 years ago by the leader of the Kudroli Temple Renovation, former Union Minister Janardhana Pujari. A special feature of this celebration is the worship of Navadurga. In the Kudroli Gokarnath temple, Navadurga is worshiped under one roof.
The worship includes Sharada in the center and Ganapati in front. Idols of Sharade, Ganapati, and Navadurga are made and worshiped. This tradition of worshiping Navadurga under one roof started in Mangaluru Dussehra.
Idols of Sharade, Sri Mahaganapati, Siddhidhatri, Mahagauri, Mahakali, Katyayini, Skandamata, Chandraghanta, Brahmacharini, and Shailaputri are placed in the hall. An artist named Kubera and his team created these idols.
This year, the Dasara Durbar Mandapam is also special. The pillars of the Mandap are decorated with Shilabalikas and Dasavatara works. The Suvarna Arts team, led by Chandrasekhara Suvarna from Mulki, built this Dasara Mandapam.
The unique aspect of this celebration is the worship of the nine avatars of Navadurga together with Sharade, reflecting a local tradition that stands out during the festival.
