On Tuesday, Congress rejected the Haryana assembly election results, which indicate that the BJP is likely to secure its third consecutive term. Party leaders Jairam Ramesh and Pawan Khera expressed their disbelief, calling the outcome unexpected, surprising, and against ground reality, and stated it is impossible for them to accept the results.
During a press conference, Ramesh highlighted serious complaints regarding the counting process, claiming that the party would take these issues to the Election Commission. Congress is projected to finish with around 37 seats, while the BJP is set to win 48 of the 90 assembly seats. Ramesh criticized the election results as a victory for manipulation that undermines democratic processes.
Khera added that no one anticipated such an outcome, emphasizing that it represents a failure of democracy. The party plans to gather complaints from their candidates and present them to the Election Commission soon.
Despite Congress’s improved vote share compared to the last election, the BJP’s continued success reflects the party’s long-standing influence in the region. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar praised the results, crediting PM Modi’s leadership and the BJP’s achievements in Haryana.
