P.C. Jaffer, Secretary of the Finance Department and District In-charge Secretary for Bengaluru Rural District, has called on the concerned departments to ensure full utilization of the allocated funds for the year 2024-25. Speaking at the District Progress Review Meeting held at the Zilla Panchayat Hall in Beerasandra village, Devanahalli taluk, he emphasized the importance of achieving 100% financial and physical progress by expediting action plans, tender processes, and beneficiary selection.
Presiding over the meeting, Jaffer urged officials to spend the entire budget allocated to their respective departments. He instructed them not to wait until the end of the financial year in March, but instead, to complete all processes by December or January to ensure the achievement of 100% financial and physical progress. Jaffer also stressed the need for the effective use of funds allocated under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA).
He highlighted that several departments receive funding under NREGA and called for its optimal utilization. The forest department’s afforestation programs under NREGA, which involve planting trees, were praised as good initiatives. He encouraged the social and regional forestry divisions to plant more saplings and distribute them to farmers and the public based on demand. Additionally, he suggested organizing various tree-planting festivals in government lands to promote afforestation.
