The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) confirmed that Mohun Bagan Super Giant has been disqualified from the AFC Champions League Two after the club failed to field a team for their scheduled match against Iran’s Tractor FC. Mohun Bagan chose not to travel to Iran, citing security concerns due to the ongoing Israel-Hezbollah conflict. The escalating tension in West Asia, including missile attacks and military actions, heightened safety risks for the team.
As a result, under Article 5.2 of the AFC Champions League Two 2024/25 regulations, the AFC considered Mohun Bagan to have officially withdrawn from the tournament. All matches played by the Kolkata-based club have been canceled and declared null and void. This includes their previous game against Ravshan Kulob, which ended in a 0-0 draw. Mohun Bagan’s points and goals will not be considered in determining the final rankings for Group A, which also includes Al-Wakrah FC.
