First Half Marathon to be Held during Mangaluru Dasara

A half marathon will be organized for the first time by Kudroli Sri Gokarnanatha Temple in partnership with the Zeus Fitness Club and Decathlon as part of Mangaluru Dasara on October 6. The event will include three categories: a 21km half marathon, a 10km run, and a 5km run.

Trustee Padmaraj R announced that the winners of the half marathon and the 10km run will receive prizes of Rs 25,000 and Rs 15,000, respectively. Last year, a successful walkathon was held, and the temple management aims to continue spreading the message of peace this Dasara. The theme for the event is “One City One Spirit” and “DK Where unity means strength.”

The races will start from the temple gate at 5 a.m. and will conclude by 10 a.m. City Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal will participate, along with Santhosh Poojary, the son of the temple’s chief patron. Safety and security arrangements for participants will be ensured. Approximately 1,200 participants have registered so far, and this number is expected to reach around 2,000.

All participants will receive a medal and a certificate of appreciation. An entry fee will be charged for the half marathon and the 10km run, while only Re 1 will be required for the 5km category. The registration fee is Rs 589 for the half marathon and Rs 353 for the 10km run, and microchips will be provided to those in the longer distances.
