Kim Kardashian advocates for Menendez Brothers’ release in powerful essay

Must read

Reality TV star Kim Kardashian recently visited the Menendez Brothers in prison and has now penned an essay calling for their release. Lyle and Erik Menendez were convicted in 1996 for the murder of their parents, but Kardashian believes their life sentences should be reconsidered.

In the essay, Kardashian highlighted how people change over time, noting, ‘We are all shaped by our experiences. Who we were at 18 is not who we are now.’

She urged for a fresh look at the case, arguing that the Menendez brothers were not ‘monsters’ as they were portrayed. Kim emphasized that the brothers had endured years of sexual, physical, and emotional abuse at the hands of their parents, leading them to believe that killing their parents was their only way out of the nightmare.

Kardashian also praised the brothers for their exemplary behavior in prison, where they have earned college degrees and worked as mentors. She mentioned that even prison wardens and family members of the Menendez parents support their release, with 24 relatives requesting the justice system to reconsider.

The case has gained renewed attention following the release of the Netflix true-crime series ‘Monsters’ in late September. Additionally, Los Angeles prosecutors are now reviewing new evidence presented by the brothers’ attorneys, further fueling the conversation about their possible release.
