Hazaribagh
On Gandhi Jayanti, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched several development projects in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, totaling over ₹83,000 crore to uplift tribal communities. The event was held at Vinoba Bhave University, where Modi emphasized tribal welfare through various initiatives.
The highlight of the launch was the ‘Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan,’ a substantial ₹79,156 crore initiative aimed at integrating tribal villages into the broader economy and enhancing their empowerment. This ambitious plan focuses on about 63,000 tribal villages across 2,740 blocks in 549 districts, benefiting over 5 crore tribal people.
Key aspects of the initiative include building 20 lakh homes for tribal families, developing 25,000 km of rural roads and bridges for better connectivity, and ensuring clean drinking water, gas, and electricity for all households. The plan also proposes the creation of 100 tribal market centers, mobile health units, ashrams, and skill development centers to improve education and healthcare access. Additionally, it aims to promote agriculture and horticulture while preserving tribal culture and traditions.
Moreover, Modi inaugurated the PM Jan Man Yojana, launched 40 Eklavya schools in Jharkhand, and laid the foundation for 25 more to enhance educational opportunities for tribal children. Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram welcomed the Prime Minister with a shawl and a Sohrai painting, celebrating Jharkhand’s rich Sarna tribal culture. These initiatives mark a significant step in addressing the development needs of India’s tribal population, focusing on infrastructure, education, healthcare, and cultural preservation.
