On Tuesday, Ajit Pawar, the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra and the NCP national president, stated that the government has no issues implementing the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana. He emphasized that if there were any problems, the scheme would not have been launched. Pawar’s comments followed remarks from Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, who raised concerns about the substantial funding needed for the scheme and questioned the timely payment of subsidies in other sectors, hinting at financial strain in Maharashtra.
Despite the opposition’s claims that the Ladki Bahin scheme is financially unsound, Pawar defended it. He noted that he announced the initiative with a budget of ₹46,000 crore and assured that funding would not be a problem. As part of his Jansanman Yatra to promote the scheme, he remarked, if there was an issue, we wouldn’t have launched it.
Pawar also pointed out the government’s efforts to attract investments, such as providing land, water, and tax exemptions to investors. He plans to clarify Gadkari’s statements and criticized the opposition for their attacks on the government, especially with the upcoming Assembly elections in mind. Pawar highlighted that the scheme has gained popularity among women, despite ongoing criticisms from opponents, and dismissed claims of industries fleeing Maharashtra as false, citing significant investments from companies like Kirloskar and JSW.
