The Andhra Pradesh government is actively seeking investments, and the US Consulate General in Hyderabad is keen to enhance opportunities for American businesses in the state, stated Consul General Jennifer Larson on Thursday. Recently, Larson met with CM N Chandrababu Naidu and other ministers to discuss potential cooperation between the consulate and the state.
During her visit, Larson emphasized that many leading US companies based in Hyderabad are increasingly interested in exploring Andhra Pradesh, particularly concerning its business environment, ease of operations, and attractive incentives for investment. She highlighted the strong relationship between the US and Andhra Pradesh, noting that around 40% of Indian students studying in the US come from the Telugu states. Larson pointed out that Telugu is one of the fastest-growing languages in America.
Additionally, she mentioned CM Naidu’s pivotal role in establishing the US Consulate in Hyderabad, the first US diplomatic office in India since independence in 1947. The consulate, now situated in a $350 million facility in Hyderabad’s Financial District, aims to improve visa services. Larson indicated that the consulate has increased its staff to reduce waiting times, especially prioritizing student visa applications.
