A complaint was lodged at the Anekal Police Station on Wednesday by Gautam Venki, the Rajyadyakshara of the Bhovi Sangh, following a peaceful protest against derogatory statements made about the Bhovi community.
The issue arose from a segment aired on Colors Kannada’s Gichigili program on September 22, where Shimoga-based comedian Tiger Karthik made comments perceived as insulting to the Bhovi community. Venki expressed that such remarks portray the community in a negative light, exacerbating existing social stigmas.
During the protest, Venki emphasized that the community feels demeaned by how they are represented in reality shows, which he argued trivialize serious issues of caste discrimination. He called for the arrest and interrogation of Tiger Karthik, urging that legal action be taken against him for his comments.
The Bhovi Sangh is seeking accountability and respect for their community through this complaint.
