The Vadodara district administration in Gujarat began distributing a special relief package for vendors impacted by recent floods on Wednesday. Approximately 7,448 vendors benefited, with financial aid directly deposited into their bank accounts. To facilitate this, 200 personnel were deployed in 100 teams to conduct door-to-door surveys, helping traders complete simple forms and gather necessary documents for direct aid transfers through the Mamlatdar’s office.

This relief initiative has already provided support to 4,591 small street vendors and cart owners in Vadodara, totaling Rs 2.26 crore. Additionally, 1,079 traders operating small permanent cabins received Rs 2.15 crore. Larger cabin traders also qualified for assistance, with 1,686 traders collectively receiving Rs 6.74 crore. Around 92 small and medium-sized shop owners were granted Rs 78.20 lakh under the Chief Minister’s relief package.

Minister Rushikesh Patel highlighted the government’s dedication to aiding the swift recovery of affected businesses. Eligible traders can receive varying amounts of financial assistance based on their losses and business size. For instance, lorry and rack holders can claim up to Rs 5,000, while small permanent cabin owners may receive up to Rs 20,000. Applications for financial aid must be submitted to relevant authorities by October 31.
