A team of 60 Indians, including 40 shooters, 14 coaches, and five support staff, is set to depart for Lima, Peru, to participate in the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Junior World Championship Rifle/Pistol/Shotgun. The event will be held from September 26 to October 7.
Last year, at the Junior World Championship in Changwon, Korea, India secured 17 medals, including six golds, finishing second in the medal tally behind China.
A 35-member Indian squad had already been announced, featuring notable junior shooters such as Abhinav Shaw, Gautami Bhanot, Parth Rakesh Mane, Shambhavi Kshirsagar, and Shardul Vihan. Mukesh Nelavalli stands out as the only shooter competing in two events: the men’s 10m air pistol and the men’s 25m rapid-fire pistol.
A second group of 20 shooters and two coaches will depart a week later for their events, scheduled in the latter part of the championship. India hopes to build on last year’s success as they aim for strong performances in Peru.
