More than 430,000 residents in Shangqiu City, Henan Province, have been impacted by severe rainfall caused by Typhoon Bebinca, local authorities reported. The heavy rains hit the city between September 17 and 19, causing significant flooding across 69 townships. Rainfall levels reached up to 625.9 mm, according to meteorological and emergency management officials.

By 6 P.M. on Monday, over 433,000 people had been affected, and 5,119 individuals were evacuated for safety, as reported by sources. Although the rain has subsided, some parts of Shangqiu are still facing waterlogging issues. Rescue teams remain on alert to manage the aftermath and provide support to affected areas.

Typhoon Bebinca, the 13th of this year, made landfall in Shanghai on September 16. It has been classified as the strongest typhoon to strike the city in 75 years. Despite China’s National Meteorological Center discontinuing its numbering of the typhoon on September 18, its effects continue to be felt across Henan and other regions, with heavy rainstorms following in its wake.
