A 7-year-old boy, Niranjan, lost his life after a gate at the BBMP grounds fell on him around 4pm on Sunday in Malleswaram. Niranjan, the son of Vijayakumar and Priya, was reportedly trying to open the gate to play when it collapsed, causing severe head injuries.
Local residents quickly rushed Niranjan to KC General Hospital for treatment, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries. The boy was a fifth-grade student at BBMP School in Malleswaram. His family, which includes his father, an auto driver, lives in the pipeline area of Malleswaram.
Following the incident, Malleswaram police visited the scene and initiated an investigation. An eyewitness described how they were playing cricket nearby when Niranjan arrived on his bicycle and touched the gate, which then fell on him. The witness stated that they raised the gate and quickly took him to the hospital, where he was found to have injuries to his head and ears.
