The ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah has intensified, with Israel launching 400 strikes on Lebanon, while Hezbollah targeted Israel’s key Ramat David base near Haifa. According to sources, the exchange of fire has further escalated tensions in the Middle East.
On Sunday, Hezbollah claimed responsibility for attacking Israeli military-industrial sites, particularly those linked to Rafael Electronics Company north of Haifa. The attack, described as a response to a deadly explosion involving walkie-talkies and pagers in Lebanon, left three Israelis injured, as reported by sources.
Hezbollah’s attack followed the tragic deaths of at least 20 people in Lebanon on Wednesday and over 450 injuries from the explosions. In retaliation, the Israeli army reported that more than 115 rockets were launched from southern Lebanon into northern Israel.
In response to Hezbollah’s actions, Israel launched airstrikes on Hezbollah targets in Lebanon and intercepted aerial threats. The Israeli Defence Forces stated that hundreds of thousands of civilians had taken shelter overnight due to the rocket barrage. Schools were also closed to protect children from the ongoing conflict.
The United Nations special coordinator for Lebanon, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, warned of an “imminent catastrophe” in the region, emphasizing that military action would not bring safety to either side. Tensions continue to rise, especially after a deadly Israeli airstrike in Beirut, which claimed the lives of 37 people, including women and children.
