Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot has requested the state government to provide the Kempanna Commission report concerning the alleged illegal denotification of 541 acres of land in Arkavathi Layout. A source from the Raj Bhavan confirmed that the Governor has written to Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh, but the state government has yet to respond.
The commission, led by retired High Court Justice H.S. Kempanna, was established in 2014 during Siddaramaiah’s first term as Chief Minister to investigate irregularities in the denotification of land acquired by the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA). The commission submitted its findings in 2017, but the report has not been made public, despite calls from some BJP leaders for its release.
The request follows recent developments in which the Governor authorized an investigation into Chief Minister Siddaramaiah regarding an alleged compensatory site allotment scam in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority.
Siddaramaiah stated that his government would address the Governor’s request about the Arkavathi Layout. He also commented on concerns regarding leaks of the Governor’s correspondence, questioning the possibility of such leaks originating from the Governor’s office. He mentioned that he has not seen the communication directly but has read about it in the media.
