Qatar Airways has announced a ban on all pagers and walkie-talkies for passengers flying from Beirut Rafic Hariri International Airport (BEY). This restriction applies to checked baggage, carry-on luggage, and cargo, and will remain in effect until further notice.
The decision follows a series of devastating explosions involving walkie-talkies and pagers in Lebanon. Recent attacks resulted in at least 20 fatalities and over 450 injuries. Just a day prior, another coordinated explosion killed 12 people and wounded more than 2,800.
In response to the ongoing violence, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have launched targeted strikes against Hezbollah infrastructure in Lebanon, aiming to enhance security in northern Israel. Defense Minister Yoav Gallant announced the beginning of a “new phase” in the conflict, emphasizing the need to ensure the safe return of northern communities.
Meanwhile, ambulance crews from the Lebanese Red Cross have been actively rescuing and evacuating those injured in the recent explosions.
