Superstar Mahesh Babu and filmmaker SS Rajamouli are teaming up for their next project, tentatively titled ‘SSMB29.’ The film is anticipated to be one of their largest collaborations yet. Set in the 1800s, this period drama will feature over 200 unique characters, including members of a tribal group from that era.
The production team is working on finalizing the character designs to reflect the historical aesthetics of the time. Details about the film remain limited, with the team maintaining strict confidentiality. Given the success of Rajamouli’s previous film, ‘RRR,’ expectations for ‘SSMB29’ are high. However, fans may need to wait, as the film’s release is projected for 2027, due to Rajamouli’s detailed filmmaking process.
Described as a jungle adventure thriller with inspiration from the ‘Indiana Jones’ series, the film will include significant portions shot in Africa. The script is finalized, and Mahesh Babu is undergoing intense physical training for his role, which is inspired by the Hindu mythological figure Hanuman.
Mahesh Babu is also expected to co-produce the film and may take a share of the profits instead of a traditional salary. Prithviraj Sukumaran will play the antagonist. With a rumored budget of around Rs 1000 crore, ‘SSMB29’ is set to be one of the most expensive Indian films ever made.
