St. Lucia Kings (SLK) secured a convincing 5-wicket victory over St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots (STKNP) in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) on Friday. Choosing to bowl first, the Kings limited the Patriots to 173/5 in 20 overs. Alzarri Joseph took two key wickets, and Noor Ahmad’s economical four-over spell was crucial.

In response, SLK’s openers, Johnson Charles and Faf du Plessis, set a strong foundation with a 115-run partnership in just 10.4 overs. Charles scored 74 runs off 42 balls, and Du Plessis added 62 runs from 31 balls. Despite a few middle-order wickets falling quickly, SLK chased down the target in 16.3 overs with 5 wickets remaining. Charles was named Player of the Match for his outstanding performance.

STKNP, struggling at the bottom of the table with one win and six losses, also faced the challenge of losing Sherfane Rutherford due to personal reasons. South African Rilee Rossouw made a comeback, scoring a brisk 50 off 31 balls. However, the Patriots’ season has been plagued by injuries, including Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza and the unavailability of key players Wanindu Hasaranga and Tabraiz Shamsi.

Brief Scores:

– STKNP: 173/5 in 20 overs (Andre Fletcher 62, Rilee Rossouw 50; Alzarri Joseph 2/38)

– SLK: 176/5 in 16.3 overs (Johnson Charles 74, Faf du Plessis 62; Wanindu Hasaranga 2/13, Josh Clarkson 2/18)
