Greater Noida
The one-off Test between Afghanistan and New Zealand at Greater Noida Sports Complex has yet to start, with the fourth day being canceled due to persistent rain. The first three days of the match were also called off because of a wet outfield, and the toss has yet to take place.
On the fourth day, covers were still over most of the ground due to ongoing damp conditions. Afghanistan’s star all-rounder, Rashid Khan, will miss this Test match because of a back injury sustained in July during the Shpageeza Cricket League. Rashid’s absence is a significant blow for Afghanistan.
New Zealand, who arrived in India on Thursday, have five spin options: Mitchell Santner, Ajaz Patel, Rachin Ravindra, Michael Bracewell, and Glenn Phillips. Before the match, Afghan captain Hashmatullah Shahidi expressed hope for having a reliable venue in India, highlighting the country’s crucial role in their cricket development. Shahidi noted that having a consistent venue would benefit the team.
