On Tuesday, several BJP leaders criticized the Congress party in response to former Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde’s comments about the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir during Congress rule. In his memoir launch on Monday, Shinde revealed that he felt scared visiting Kashmir’s Lal Chowk and Dal Lake and could not share his fears despite publicizing his visits.

Union Minister Piyush Goyal condemned the previous Congress government, stating that under PM Modi, the security has improved so much that even opposition leaders can now enjoy snow in Kashmir without fear. Goyal highlighted the stark contrast between then and now, emphasizing the strength of current national security.

BJP leader Amit Malviya also criticized Rahul Gandhi and praised the current government’s efforts. He noted the significant increase in tourism to Jammu and Kashmir, with 2-3 crore visitors annually, and highlighted the positive impact of abrogating Article 370, which he believes has strengthened democracy and reduced the influence of corrupt local leaders.

BJP spokesperson Nalin Kohli added that Shinde’s comments reveal the Congress government’s failure to ensure security in Kashmir. He criticized the Congress for its lack of genuine intent to address the region’s issues, contrasting it with the proactive measures taken by PM Modi’s administration.
