Basavaraja Rayareddy, the Chief Minister’s economic adviser, has stated that he would be a contender for the Chief Minister’s position if a change occurs. He mentioned in a media interaction that if the post were to be allocated to Kalyana Karnataka, he would be a leading candidate due to his multiple electoral victories. Rayareddy questioned why he should not be considered senior for the role.
However, Rayareddy emphasized that Siddaramaiah should remain Chief Minister for the next three and a half years to ensure the state’s development. He expressed his support for Siddaramaiah continuing in the position.Rayareddy dismissed the notion that Siddaramaiah might step down, asserting that there is no immediate need for others to vie for the Chief Minister role at present. He acknowledged that aspirations for the position are natural and defended Deshpande’s remarks about becoming Chief Minister. Rayareddy, noting his seniority and affiliation with the Lingayat community, expressed no reluctance in pursuing the role but stressed that the decision ultimately rests with the party and Siddaramaiah.
