The trial phase for a 24-hour water supply to Ullal city has started, as announced by Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker U T Khader. He reviewed the quality of water from the Pajiru treatment plant, which is being transferred to a 7 million-litre tank at Chembugudde.
Khader stated that providing continuous water supply has been a long-standing goal. Under a Rs 198 crore project, a water jackwell has been built in Sajipa to lift water to a treatment plant between Konaje and Pajiru. From there, water will be distributed through pipelines to various areas.
A 7 million-litre tank at Chembugudde will supply water to Ullal via pipelines installed under the ADB project. Due to land issues, construction of tanks in some areas like Mastikatte and Azad Nagar was delayed, but a new tank is being built at Kumpala Ashraya Colony.
Khader also outlined other projects, including additional funding for pipeline areas, the construction of tanks and pipelines in Kotekar and Someshwara, and the installation of household water meters. He promised regular water supply within two years.
Plans are underway to widen the Thokkottu-Chembugudde road to six lanes and upgrade power infrastructure from 30 KV to 132 KV. A free dialysis center will soon open at the Ullal Community Health Centre, which has started admitting inpatients and added new therapy services. A fire station will be established in Pajiru within a month. The event was attended by local officials and council members.
