Dr. N. Shivashankar, District Collector, has urged for comprehensive preparations to mark the 58th International Literacy Day on September 8. During a pre-meeting at the District Collector’s Office Hall in Bangalore Rural Zilla Administration Bhawan, Birasandra Village, Devanahalli Taluk, Dr. Shivashankar emphasized the importance of celebrating the event district-wide.
The Collector instructed the School Education and Literacy Department to organize literacy flag hoisting and platform programs in front of the District Administration Building. He also called for coordination among various departments, including Public Education, District Diet, Women and Child Welfare, Health and Family Welfare, Youth Sports, Information and Publicity, Agriculture, and Urban Development, to ensure the event’s success.
Additionally, Dr. Shivashankar directed that International Literacy Day be observed at the Taluk and Gram Panchayat levels, with the Chief Executive Officer overseeing these celebrations. The Deputy Director of the School Education and Literacy Department was tasked with informing school heads to organize school-level events and setting up Social Spirit Centers at the Taluk and Gram Panchayat levels. Community mobilization programs are also to be conducted in schools.
District level officials, including Sasikumar NL, Education Officer of the District Adult Education Department, participated in the meeting.
