District Collector Dr. N. Shivashankar announced plans for an extensive human chain across Bangalore Rural District on September 15 to mark International Democracy Day. The chain will stretch approximately 80 kilometers, connecting key locations from the old Nijgala gate in Nelamangala Taluk to Dabus town and Heggadihalli, and extending towards Chikkaballapur and Kolar borders.
Dr. Shivashankar emphasized the importance of raising awareness about democratic values, which is crucial for empowering the next generation in India. The human chain will form from 8:30 am to 9:30 am, with participation from officers, staff, public, organizations, and students from schools and colleges.
The initiative will involve a broad campaign, with Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Dr. K.N. Anuradha coordinating efforts at the village panchayat level. Panchayat development officers will facilitate participation in the event.
Additional District Collector Amaresh H, District Social Welfare Department Deputy Director Prema, and other district officials attended the preparatory meeting to ensure the event’s success.
