Digital display boards at BMTC bus stations go blank, commuters say they have no info on bus timings

Must read

The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has decided to abandon its plans for installing digital display boards at bus stations. Work on the display boards had been on hold for the past 3-4 months, and the boards at Shivajinagar TTMC are now blank.

These digital display boards were intended to provide essential information such as bus numbers, routes, arrival times, platform numbers, and maps, which helped passengers, particularly newcomers, navigate the bus system. The boards at Majestic and Shivajinagar terminals have stopped functioning, and there seems to be no plan to install additional boards at other bus stations.

Commuters have expressed frustration over the lack of information. Farida, a passenger, noted that waiting times for buses have become unpredictable without the digital displays. Shefali, a student, mentioned that the absence of schedule information makes it difficult to plan trips and inform family members. Another student, Pruthvi, highlighted that the lack of display boards has made mornings challenging, as bus arrival times are unclear and buses are often overcrowded.
