Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, leader of the opposition in the Legislative Council, criticized the Congress government for alleged corruption related to land site allocations. On Monday, at Vidhana Soudha, Narayanaswamy raised concerns about the alleged misuse of sites and called for an investigation. He claimed that Congressmen are giving land to certain individuals while engaging in corrupt practices.
Narayanaswamy stated that the opposition has approached the Governor to request an investigation into the legality of the CA sites. He questioned why there is silence regarding what he described as looting. The minister’s response to these accusations was marked by anger, and Narayanaswamy was derogatorily referred to as ‘Shed Narayanaswamy.’ The leader asked whether a warehouse can be equated with a shed.
Narayanaswamy highlighted that 10 acres of land in Bangalore were allocated to Hyderabad residents when it should have been given to local people. He noted that 71 Dalit community members have been waiting for site allotments after paying money for several years. Despite a backlog of 800 acres, their requests remain unfulfilled. Meanwhile, 337 acres have been converted into sites, with allocations ranging from 5 to 10 acres. Narayanaswamy objected to this practice, emphasizing that a typical site is usually half an acre to one acre.
He asserted that his actions as an opposition leader were aimed at fulfilling his responsibilities. Former minister N. Mahesh also attended the press conference.
