Housing Minister Zameer Ahmed dismissed claims that visiting Chamarajanagar would result in losing political power. Speaking to the media, he refuted the superstition that ties visiting the area to a loss of influence, noting that both he and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah have visited Chamarajanagar several times without any adverse effects.
Ahmed also addressed the BJP’s recent march condemning the MUDA scam. He stated that the Chief Minister is not involved in the scam and criticized the BJP for targeting Siddaramaiah without cause. He accused BJP leaders, including Kumaraswamy, of making unfounded allegations and attempting to undermine the Congress party. Ahmed claimed that the BJP’s actions are intended to cause trouble for the Congress, hoping it would lead to the party’s downfall.
Regarding leadership ambitions within the party, Ahmed mentioned that senior leader Deshpande, who has served as an MLA and Minister, has expressed a desire to become Chief Minister. Ahmed supported Deshpande’s aspiration, stating that it is natural for politicians to have such ambitions. He assured that there is no vacant Chief Minister chair at present and that Siddaramaiah will not be affected by the prosecution case.
Ahmed concluded by addressing the investigation into corruption during the Covid era, acknowledging that there are multiple scams under scrutiny.
