Minister Madhu S Bangarappa stated that agricultural workers in the grasslands of Kanu Soppina Hill should not be bullied. He emphasized that officers must work on a humanitarian basis. This statement was made during the first meeting of the Bagar Hukum Committee at the Taluk Office in Soraba town on Monday.
The issue of Bagar Hukum cultivators has persisted for many years. Minister Bangarappa assured that appropriate action will be taken in consultation with the Chief Minister. He noted that many families’ lives would be adversely affected if long-term farmers were suddenly targeted. He advised officials to act humanely while adhering to legal frameworks and warned against tolerating any misbehavior from authorities dealing with Bagar Hukum cultivators. Strict action will be necessary against such misconduct.
Tahsildar Manjula Hegdala reported that 5,113 applications for Bagar Hukum land sanctions have been filed online and will be reviewed by the Bagar Hukum Committee soon. She mentioned that rights distribution to 91 applicants and the registration of 166 individuals are underway. Applications will be discussed after e-KYC verification by new committee members.
The meeting was attended by MD Shekar, Chairman of the Bagar Hukum Committee, committee members, and forest officers.
