The inaugural Sub Junior Inter-Zone Championship 2024 kicks off on September 1, with Ranchi in Jharkhand and Narwana in Haryana hosting the men’s and women’s events, respectively. This tournament, a key fixture in Hockey India’s calendar, aims to offer emerging hockey talents a platform to shine and potentially join Hockey India’s junior programs.
In the men’s championship, six teams are split into two pools: Pool A features North Zone, South Zone, and SAI, while Pool B includes East Zone, West Zone, and Academy. The seven-day event will take place at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Astro Turf Hockey Stadium, known for its international standard.
For the women’s championship, Narwana will host teams in Pool A, including North Zone, East Zone, and SAI BAL, and Pool B, featuring South Zone, West Zone, SAI Shakti, and Academy. This seven-day tournament will be held at the Navdeep Stadium.
Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey expressed enthusiasm about the championships, noting their significance for young players and their development. Secretary General Bhola Nath Singh highlighted the tournament’s role in grassroots development and praised Hockey Jharkhand and Hockey Haryana for their hosting efforts.
