The upcoming film ‘Black,’ starring Jiiva and Priya Bhavani Shankar, has been announced by Potential Studios. The film, directed by debutant Balasubramani KG, is set to be released in September 2024. It has been revealed that the movie is a sci-fi thriller with a mystery, featuring an urban married couple played by Jiiva and Priya.
The story is said to unfold over the course of a single night, with darkness playing a central role both literally and metaphorically. The director explained that the title ‘Black’ refers to the darkness of the night as well as the metaphorical darkness within people. He mentioned that the film’s plot involves the lead characters entering a place known as a twilight zone, similar to areas like the Bermuda Triangle, where urban legends abound.
The first look poster has been released, showing Jiiva holding a baseball bat against a dark, cloudy backdrop, indicating a thrilling and mysterious storyline. The director shared that Jiiva was interested in working on a film with complex layers, which influenced his casting decision. Priya Bhavani Shankar was chosen for her ease with the Tamil language, making the filming process smoother.
The film’s music is being composed by Sam CS, with Gokul Benoy handling the cinematography. The movie is expected to contribute to the growing trend of sci-fi films in Tamil cinema.
