Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara stated on Wednesday that Congress legislators may seek a meeting with President Droupadi Murmu to address the recent sanction for prosecution of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. This sanction, granted by Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot on August 16, pertains to alleged irregularities involving the allotment of plots to the Chief Minister’s wife by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA).

The Chief Minister has challenged the Governor’s order in the High Court, which has postponed proceedings until August 29. The court also instructed a trial court to delay consideration of related complaints. Parameshwara noted that a plan is being considered for Congress legislators to meet the President, depending on the court’s developments.

Congress President D K Shivakumar has announced statewide protests and plans for a foot march to Raj Bhavan on Saturday to submit a memorandum to the Governor. The party is also preparing to address any national protests organized by the BJP regarding the MUDA case.

Regarding eleven bills returned by the Governor, Parameshwara said that clarifications are being prepared and the bills will be resubmitted if necessary. He dismissed speculation about his potential promotion to Chief Minister, emphasizing his commitment to the party’s decisions.

On BJP’s recent petition to the Governor about Minister Priyank Kharge, Parameshwara said the Governor is free to act if any illegalities are found. He reiterated that land allotments follow established norms and any allegations should be proven baseless.
