Nottingham Forest has announced the signing of Spanish left-back Alex Moreno from Aston Villa on a season-long loan with an option to buy. The club shared their excitement about the new addition, stating, Nottingham Forest is pleased to welcome Alex Moreno from Aston Villa. The 31-year-old joins us on loan until the end of the season, with an option for a permanent transfer.

Last season, Moreno played 29 games for Aston Villa, helping them secure a spot in the UEFA Champions League. Before his time at Villa, he was well-known in La Liga, making 127 appearances for Rayo Vallecano and 122 for Real Betis, where he was part of the team that won the Copa del Rey in 2022.

Moreno had a strong start in the Premier League, providing three assists in 19 matches for Aston Villa. However, he eventually lost his place in the lineup.

Nottingham Forest’s Chief Football Officer, Ross Wilson, expressed his pleasure at the signing, noting, Alex is a player we’ve admired for a long time. We’re thrilled to have him here, bringing his experience from both La Liga and the Premier League to our team.

Moreno’s move comes as Aston Villa recently signed left-back Ian Maatsen from Chelsea. Maatsen, who joined Villa on June 28, has previously played for PSV Eindhoven, Charlton Athletic, Coventry City, Burnley, and Dortmund, where he made 16 Bundesliga appearances and scored two goals.
