New Delhi
UPSC aspirants in Old Rajendra Nagar are protesting the deaths of three coaching students due to basement waterlogging at RAU Coaching Centre, demanding higher compensation from the Delhi Government for the victims’ families. They insist each family should receive between Rs 1 crore to Rs 5 crore, far more than the Rs 10 lakh initially promised.
Daksh Sharma, speaking to source, emphasized their peaceful protest for answers and adequate compensation, stating Rs 10 lakh doesn’t reflect the value of a lost life. He held agencies like PWD, MCD, BSES, and Delhi Jal Board accountable for substandard conditions. Sharma mentioned their interaction with LG VK Saxena, who assured them of raising their demands in Parliament and forming a committee.
Sharma stressed closing unauthorized coaching centers and stricter checks on PG accommodations and illegal building expansions to prevent future incidents. The protest, he said, will continue until proper Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are established.
