A severe rainstorm has caused significant soil erosion and a landslide between Yedakumeri and Kadagaravalli stations in the Sakaleshpur and Subramanya Road section. All train services in this area have been suspended until further notice due to the damage.
To address the situation, 430 personnel have been deployed. The team includes 200 personnel on the day shift, 120 on the night shift, and 110 on standby. Safety measures have been implemented, including inflatable tents, raincoats, safety shoes, portable toilets, and essential supplies.
Four cooks are preparing meals on-site with available raw materials, groceries, and cooking equipment. Additional food packets and water bottles are being supplied from Subramanya Road Station. A medical team, consisting of doctors, nurses, and dressers, is present with a full range of medical supplies. An extra team of eight healthcare professionals is stationed at Sakleshpur railway station, working in two shifts.
Eight portable generators, over 60 floodlights, eight torches, 10 extension boards, and 140 litres of petrol, along with gas cutters, are on-site for restoration efforts. Communication systems, including auto phones, control phones, satellite phones, Wi-Fi, and VSAT, are operational for monitoring and coordination from the WAR Room at Headquarters Hubballi. Six Hitachi machines and five Poclain machines are working continuously to restore the track.
Mysuru Divisional Railway Manager Shilpi Agarwal and senior officers from headquarters are on-site to oversee the work.
