Karkala
A gas cylinder placed outside a residential complex in Pulkeri in Karkala accidentally caught fire and exploded, resulting in injuries to a woman and significant damage to other apartments in the complex. The gas cylinder, placed outside the residence caught fire around 10:30 PM on Saturday night.
The explosion of the gas cylinder caused flames to spread to the apartments on the fourth floor, making it difficult for the residents to evacuate. The fire engulfed household items in the apartments, and the entire complex was filled with smoke.
The incident shattered the windowpanes and broke the doors of the apartments in the complex. The building sustained partial damage. The firefighting operation was led by fire station officer Albert Monis, along with team members Achyut Karkera, Suresh Kumar, Jayamoolya, Nityanand and Ravichandra.
