Two-time world champion Nikhat Zareen secured her place in the women’s 50kg pre-quarterfinals at the Paris Olympics with a determined victory over Germany’s Maxi Karina Kloetzer on Sunday.
The 28-year-old unseeded boxer won by a unanimous 5-0 decision in a challenging round of 32 bout at the North Paris arena.
Zareen is set to face top-seeded Asian Games and reigning flyweight world champion Wu Yu of China, who had a first-round bye, on Thursday.
